The WISPS
Team
The key distinction between a good paranormal team and a great one lies in its members. A great team is composed of highly qualified, grounded, and dedicated investigators. We uphold the highest standards and accept only the most exceptional individuals.
About the Call Signs
Most WISPS team members adopts a call sign they frequently use as investigators. This fun an quirky tradition started when one of the founding members of the WISPS team, co-founded the Supernatural Hour Podcast. Concerned that the podcast made him a public figure which may interfere with his career, he chose to use a childhood nickname as a call sign. The idea spread through the team and many members choose a call sign when joining the team.

Current Team Leadership
Meet the Founders
WISPS—short for the Wasatch Investigative Society for Paranormal Studies—began as a recurring conversation at family gatherings between siblings DeAnn T. and Gary C. With a shared background, aligned values, and a mutual interest in the unexplained, they envisioned forming a professional organization dedicated to the investigation of paranormal phenomena.
Their goal was to assemble a team of committed volunteers who could not only conduct thorough investigations but also provide meaningful assistance to those experiencing unexplained activity. Starting with a small circle of trusted friends, the team evolved over time—welcoming new members as others moved on to different endeavors.
While the broader paranormal community is largely made up of well-intentioned individuals, it often suffers from stereotypes that portray its members as eccentric or lacking credibility. DeAnn and Gary aimed to shift that perception by introducing a higher standard of professionalism to the field.
WISPS was founded with clear expectations: members were selected for their integrity, competence, and professionalism. A formal dress code and strict operational standards were implemented to help clients feel confident and comfortable inviting investigators into their homes.
Through years of consistent work and dedication, WISPS has established itself as a respected organization within the paranormal community. While many groups have come and gone, WISPS continues to stand the test of time—committed to its mission and stronger than ever.

In her early twenties, she encountered her first demonic haunting—an event that not only deepened her interest in demonology but also marked the beginning of her specialized work in this intense and challenging aspect of the field.
The paranormal has always been a personal journey for Ravyn. These events further fueled her commitment to understanding what lies beyond our everyday perception.

Ravyn’s fascination with the paranormal is driven by its endless possibilities and unanswered questions. Her mission is to explore those mysteries with curiosity, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to uncovering the truth—whatever it may be.

New paranormal Investigators
Trainees:
Trainees represent our newest prospective members. They are individuals with a demonstrated interest in the paranormal, who have shown both a foundational level of competency and a strong willingness to learn investigative techniques. Most new members begin their journey in the trainee role, with few exceptions. Once a trainee has proven their proficiency and readiness, they are elevated to the status of full investigator.
Why is the Trainee Pool Large?
People sometimes ask us, “Why so many trainees?” The truth is we love all out trainees and we hope each of them will become a full fledged investigator, having a larger team helps us in a lot of ways. We occasionally run two investigations at the same time, and we also understand that life is busy — not everyone can make it to every event. On top of that, some of our trainees discover after a few investigations that the team isn’t the right fit for them, or that paranormal investigations aren’t what they had in mind and that’s perfectly okay.
On September 5, 2025, we were excited to welcome a whole group of new trainees to the team!

Radar’s journey into the world of paranormal investigation began as a skeptic. In 2017, he went on his first investigation simply to support his wife, Phoenix. At that point, he had no real interest in the supernatural—he was just along for the ride. However, that all changed when he was handed a set of Dowsing Rods (Divination Rods) during the investigation. As he held the rods and began to ask questions, something unexpected happened—the rods started to move. What followed was an intense, almost electric sensation that left him both astonished and afraid. “It was the energy I felt when holding the dowsing rods the first time that really started me thinking,” he says. The experience stirred a deep curiosity that couldn’t be easily ignored.
What followed was a period of intense contemplation. Radar couldn’t shake the feeling he had encountered something that defied explanation, something that felt entirely new and unlike anything he had ever experienced. This drove him to dive into research, needing to understand what was causing the energy he had felt. He soon realized that his quest for answers would be more than just an intellectual pursuit—it would become a personal journey to understand the manifestations of the energy that seemed to be surrounding him. Over time, his fear of the unknown transformed into fascination, and he began sharing his findings with friends and family.
Determined to explore the supernatural realm more deeply, Radar began attending ghost tours in 2018, which gave him the opportunity to learn about some of the local “hotspots” known for paranormal activity. From there, he acquired various equipment and studied its use, practicing with it to apply scientific methods to his investigations. He realized that the world of paranormal research was not only about feeling the energy but also about documenting it, capturing evidence, and seeking logical explanations behind unexplained phenomena. With his analytical mindset, Radar began integrating new tools and techniques into his investigations.
In 2025, Radar took a significant step in his journey when he joined Advanced Paranormal Services (APS) and the Wasatch Investigative Society for Paranormal Studies (WISPS). These groups gave him the chance to work with experienced investigators, allowing him to refine his skills and contribute to ongoing research. His focus remains on understanding the scientific principles behind paranormal occurrences, while also respecting the mysterious and unexplained aspects of the phenomena.
Radar’s name, fittingly, comes from his involvement in charity motorcycle rides, where he became known for his precision and keen awareness, traits that mirror his approach to paranormal investigations. Outside of his investigative work, Radar is heavily involved in auto racing, formerly participated in competitive tournament fishing, and enjoys traveling to visit his children on the East Coast. As a husband, father, and grandfather, Radar values the connections he has with people, whether it’s in his family or within the paranormal community.
As a former teacher, Radar loves sharing his knowledge and experiences with others. Whether he’s educating friends and family about his paranormal discoveries or leading investigations, Radar is committed to helping others understand and navigate the unknown. His passion for uncovering the truth, paired with his love for teaching and helping others, makes him a unique and valuable member of the paranormal team.

Chainsaw’s belief in the paranormal was ignited at the age of 14, when an innocent curiosity led her to experiment with a Ouija board in the 1980s. That initial experience left a lasting impression, sparking a fascination with the unseen forces that shape our world. However, it wasn’t until years later, when she and her family moved into their current home in 2008, that her journey into the paranormal truly began.
The home had been owned by her husband’s grandparents since the 1940s, and for the first few years, nothing unusual occurred. But gradually, strange sensations began to grow—an overwhelming feeling of being watched, particularly in the bathroom, where her youngest daughter’s feet were once held down during a shower, and her hair was pulled. Items would move on their own, and appliances would turn on without explanation. Though the family laughed off these early incidents, the situation escalated when something far darker and more sinister made its presence known.
This malevolent entity took the form of a shapeless, inky blackness, darker than anything the family had ever encountered. It brought with it a heavy negative energy that sowed chaos, fueling arguments and strife within the family. The entity would visit her husband while he slept, prompting him to respond in a voice that was not his own. It seemed intent on ending his life, a terrifying reality that grew more intense as time passed. Chainsaw would often hear her husband’s unsettling responses and wake him from the dark presence, only to find that she herself had begun to experience being held down, unable to move. At that point, she knew they were facing something far beyond their control.
Desperate for help, Chainsaw reached out to WISPS (the Wasatch Investigative Society of Paranormal Studies), who responded with a willingness to investigate the situation. Grateful for the team’s expertise, she found solace in the unique contributions each investigator brought to the table. Over several visits, the WISPS team worked tirelessly to remove the negative entities that had haunted the family’s home. Since their intervention, the energy in the house has shifted, and the family has enjoyed a more peaceful and positive atmosphere.
Chainsaw’s nickname came about as a joke. Lori asked Castle what her nickname should be, and jokingly Castle responded “Chainsaw”. The name stuck, initially playful, but she quickly embraced it as a fitting moniker for her fearless approach to the unknown. To her, it symbolizes her determination and strength in facing the paranormal, no matter how terrifying or overwhelming the situation may be.
Now, as a member of the WISPS team, Chainsaw is proud to be part of something that allows her to help others who are struggling with similar experiences. Drawing from her own family’s trials, she is committed to bringing peace to those facing the unknown. With her firsthand understanding of the emotional and spiritual turmoil caused by paranormal disturbances, Chainsaw is dedicated to helping families reclaim their homes and lives from the shadows.

Drawn to the mysteries of the unseen from a young age, Nicole, known by her investigation name Hailstorm, has been fascinated by the unexplained for as long as she can remember. Her earliest spark of curiosity came from her father’s own strange encounters, which ignited a lifelong passion for the supernatural. At just five years old, Nicole experienced her first ghostly encounter, a formative event that was met with open-minded encouragement from her parents, rather than fear. Their nurturing support laid the foundation for a life spent questioning, investigating, and seeking deeper meaning in the mysteries of the world.
As an adult, Hailstorm has become a dedicated paranormal investigator, specializing in the tools that bridge the seen and unseen. She uses dowsing rods to respond to subtle energies, captures EVP recordings (Electronic Voice Phenomena) that reveal voices from beyond normal perception, and even conducts her own unique playing card experiments. For Nicole, these tools are not just instruments—they are keys to unlocking the hidden truths of the world.
Her passion for the paranormal goes beyond ghosts, as she is deeply fascinated by cryptids, folklore, and the broader realm of pseudoscience. She sees these enigmatic subjects as integral threads in the vast tapestry of human curiosity. The whispered tales of old communities have as much allure for her as the unseen forces she investigates, weaving together her love for the strange, the mysterious, and the hidden.
At the same time, Hailstorm finds delight in science, particularly astrophysics and the study of the heavens—although she prefers to leave the complex mathematics aside and focus on the awe and wonder the universe offers. This balance of scientific curiosity with supernatural exploration fuels her work, allowing her to approach investigations with an open mind and a heart full of wonder.
Spirituality and religion also play a significant role in Nicole’s approach to the paranormal. She believes that understanding a person’s beliefs—whether living or passed on—is one of the most profound ways to connect on a human level. This belief drives her to create a holistic approach to investigations, allowing her to connect deeply with the energies and spirits she encounters.
From this blend of passions, Nicole has developed her own investigative framework, S3: Supernatural, Scientific, and Spiritual Knowledge. By exploring a question from multiple angles, she believes insight can often be gained from one perspective that completes the understanding found in the others. This multi-faceted approach to paranormal research is what fuels her dedication to uncovering the truth behind the mysteries she chases.
When she’s not out investigating the unknown, Nicole enjoys cheering on her various hockey teams, geeking out over movies and comic books, experimenting with new recipes, or indulging in her love of creating spreadsheets (an odd, but true, hobby). Whether she’s unraveling the secrets of the supernatural or enjoying the more mundane joys of life, Hailstorm brings an unwavering curiosity, an open heart, and a love for adventure to everything she does.

In 2004, Phoenix experienced her first encounter with the paranormal after purchasing a new home. Shortly after moving in, her infant son began laughing at the ceiling, seemingly engaging with something unseen. At the same time, her children reported hearing heavy footsteps from the upstairs while playing in the basement, despite there being no one else in the house. Other strange occurrences followed—cupboards opening on their own, shadows moving when everyone else was stationary—leaving Phoenix with an undeniable sense that something beyond the physical realm was present in her home. This sparked her interest in delving deeper into the world of the paranormal, seeking to understand the stories of those who have departed from their physical forms.
Phoenix believes that spirits are not much different from the living; as she often says, “As in life, as in death.” To her, spirits are simply individuals who have shed their physical bodies, and much like people, they can be good or bad. This belief fuels her passion for helping others understand and connect with the energies of the departed, knowing that spirits are as complex and varied as those still walking among us.
Gifted with the ability to sense both light and dark energies, Phoenix often experiences premonitions about future events, adding another layer of insight to her investigative work. This unique gift has helped guide her on her journey, allowing her to approach each case with a blend of empathy, intuition, and open-minded curiosity. She is committed not only to exploring the paranormal but also to sharing her knowledge and experiences with others. Phoenix embraces a journey of continuous learning, eager to help others navigate the unseen world alongside her.
Outside of her work as a paranormal investigator, Phoenix is a devoted wife to her best friend, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother. Her family provides her with strength, grounding, and inspiration. She finds purpose in their achievements and feels deeply humbled by the love and support they share. Whether investigating the mysteries of the afterlife or enjoying the simple joys of family life, Phoenix remains dedicated to her mission of understanding the unseen and helping others connect to it.
